We are at it again. We’re performing another concert. Allow me to introduce you to our spring concert:
Cross of Glory Baptist Church, Tuesday May 22nd, 7:00pm
With themes of spring, new life, and rebirth this is an exciting program with fresh new music, and beautiful stories. In addition to some original works by singer-song writer friends of ours, we are excited to share some Ukrainian music with you by composer Ivan Mychik whom I met on the Northwestern College Choir Tour to Eastern Europe in 2006. He gave each of us a little yellow book of his music and told us to feel free to perform it. As I am headed back to Ukraine this July, with St. Paul-based group, Evangelion, I took a closer look at Mychik’s music. I was impressed and moved to share it with you. Several local members of that 2006 choir tour from NWC will be joining me in some beautiful choral numbers by Mychik and I’ll present some of his solo works with Naomi at the piano. The story of cultural revolution in Ukraine following their independence from communism evokes images of the blossoming crab apple trees this time of year that flanked my childhood driveway. I used to climb the trees as high as I dared to be immerse myself in that intoxicating aroma. This concert will likewise envelope you in a fresh musical embrace that we hope you enjoy! Come be with us on May 22nd!
